
Just to show my appreciation of the two films theat Joe Simpson has made about his own experience of surviving a mouintaineering 'incident' in South America, and a story from the 1930's about an attempt on the until then un-climbed north face of the Eiger, that ended in complete disaster but inspired his survival.

One of the other amazing survival stories I read was that of Ernest Shackleton in Antarctica as told in the book 'South' Stranded for over year after losing their ship, but eventually all rescued:
